But no I'm still always in Ateneo/Katipunan everyday. I spend most of my days at Starbucks looking at Excel worksheets that I don't know how to operate. With that, I'm always drinking a gazillion coffee, tea and other coffee variants to the point that my pee smells like coffee. Since caffeine is injected into my system in unhealthy proportions, I am almost forming a habit of being nocturnal. Besides that, there's the scheduled meetings, get-togethers, long list of to-do lists and tons of deadlines to meet.
Yes, I feel the summer heat...hanggang dun lang.
This morning while I was at Starbucks, a Vietnam woman in her 30s-40s sat down at my table and asked if she could interview me for her English class. We talked for around 30minutes to almost an hour. We shared stories and how she's here in the Philippines for a 6-months scholarship program to learn English in Ateneo and how a Chinese girl like me grew up in a English-speaking country. She was accompanied by a guy who she said was her brother and she was the sister. So I assumed they were siblings. Later I asked her if she was married and have kids, and she again repeated that she was a sister. That's when I realized that she was a nun and the guy with her is a brother-soon-to-be-priest. They were both trying to learn English so they could spread the gospel not just in their homeland but also in other places. I was able to learn so much from her and about Vietnam in general. Moreover, I could relate to what she was going through..like i told her, her English is my Chinese. If she is having difficulty learning English, then I am also going through the same thing with Chinese. Before we parted ways, I told her about the Pho Hua restaurant and she said she will visit it one of these days. Then she thanked me in Chinese and i thanked her back in Vietnamese.
